SUMMARY:Reading Fur Fun
DESCRIPTION:The Reading Fur Fun Reading Program is a mutually beneficial experience designed to help shy\, anxious shelter animals feel more comfortable around people by having young advocates read to them. We want to encourage the animals to approach the front of the kennel when visitors and potential adopters are present. Animals who approach the kennel front get adopted more quickly\, thus reducing the average length of stay. \nReading to shelter animals has many benefits for both the animal and the reader. Because animals don’t judge a child’s reading level\, a child is likely to feel less hesitant to read out loud. This provides an environment for readers to gain confidence and improve their literacy skills. The animals also benefit from story time. A shelter is a stressful place for animals; reading time provides a calm\, low-stress socialization opportunity. Scared and skittish animals have an opportunity to develop social skills and learn that humans are kind. Friendly animals get to have extra social time and are able to take a break from the shelter’s stressful environment. All reading sessions are chaperoned by adult staff members and volunteers. The adults provide reading support to the children and make sure safety protocols are being followed. \nFor our young volunteers\, the Reading Program helps foster compassion and empathy\, while providing a supportive environment in which to develop their reading skills. In addition\, the program provides children the opportunity to make a positive impact by helping animals in need. \n11:00 AM – 11:25 AM – Small Animals reading sessions11:30 AM – 12:00 PM – Cat reading sessions \nChildren ages 6 to 13 years are welcome to participate in PMHS-CV’s Paws & Pages Reading Program every Sunday and read to cats and small animals. If you have any questions\, please contact Community Engagement at communityengagement@popememorialcvhs.org. \nThank you for your interest in this program and for encouraging your child to put their “compassion into action” through volunteering. \nWhat to Bring: \nYou may bring your favorite books if you’d like\, but it is not required. We have a library of animal-themed books available. \nPLEASE NOTE: ONE parent is required to attend and must accompany the child every time they come to read. Closed-toed\, rubber-soled shoes are recommended to protect your feet and give better traction when walking through the animal rooms. You are welcome to bring a favorite book but we do have a library with animal-themed books to choose from. You can come read for as little or as long as you’d like during designated hours. \nCancellations: Please notify us via email or phone at least one week prior to your scheduled session if you need to cancel or reschedule. You can be added to an upcoming open session.  \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n Reading Fur Fun - Reading Program\n \n \n \n What Sunday in July are you Signing Up For?(Required)\n \n MM slash DD slash YYYY\n \n Parent/Guardian InformationParent/Guardian Name(Required)\n \n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n Physical Address(Required) \n \n \n \n Street Address\n \n \n City\n \n \n State / Province / Region\n \n \n ZIP / Postal Code\n \n \n Only for record keeping purposes Parent/Guardian Email(Required)\n \n Parent/Guardian Phone Number(Required)Child InformationPlease submit a separate form PER child if signing up multiple.
\n3:30-3:55 PM – Small Animals reading sessions4:00-4:30 PM – Cat reading sessions \nChildren ages 6 to 13 years are welcome to participate in PMHS-CV’s Paws & Pages Reading Program every Wednesday and read to cats and small animals. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Reading Fur Fun - Reading Program\n \n \n \n What Sunday in July are you Signing Up For?(Required)\n \n MM slash DD slash YYYY\n \n Parent/Guardian InformationParent/Guardian Name(Required)\n \n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n Physical Address(Required) \n \n \n \n Street Address\n \n \n City\n \n \n State / Province / Region\n \n \n ZIP / Postal Code\n \n \n Only for record keeping purposes Parent/Guardian Email(Required)\n \n Parent/Guardian Phone Number(Required)Child InformationPlease submit a separate form PER child if signing up multiple.

SUMMARY:Paws & Pajamas - A Kid's Movie Night!
DESCRIPTION:Join Us For Paws & Pajamas: A Kid’s Movie Night! \nPaws and Pajamas is a fun and easy way to get your kids involved with Pope Memorial Humane Society\, and have a little time for yourselves too. The night includes popcorn\, time spent with a few of our puppies who aren’t yet available for adoption\, and a movie! Kids are welcome to bring a blanket (some will be provided) and pillow from home if they’d like\, though we do ask that toys stay home. This is a drop off event. All adults participating in movie nights are current volunteers or staff. If your child needs accommodations that require an adult to stay with them during the event\, please let us know before registering so that can try to make the necessary adjustments. Space is limited! \nWhat to Bring: Children are encouraged to bring their own snacks\, drinks\, and even a pillow or blanket! Popcorn is provided. *Please note\, PMHS-CV is not a nut-free campus. \nFor Ages: 6 to 11 \nSHOWTIME: 5:00 PM – 7:30 PM \nMOVIE TICKET: $20 each \nFEATURED MOVIE: Pets United! \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Paws & Pajamas: Kids Night\n \n \n \n Parent/Gaurdian InformationName(Required)\n \n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n Address(Required) \n \n \n \n Street Address\n \n \n City\n \n \n State / Province / Region\n \n \n ZIP / Postal Code\n \n \n Phone(Required)Email(Required)\n \n Emergency Contact InformationOther than ParentName for Contact #1(Required)\n \n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n Phone for Contact #1(Required)Name for Contact #2(Required)\n \n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n Phone for Contact #2(Required)Authorized EscortsList name(s) of others individuals over 18 allowed to pick up your child from the program - Photo ID is required.

\n3:30-3:55 PM – Small Animals reading sessions4:00-4:30 PM – Cat reading reading sessions \nChildren ages 6 to 13 years are welcome to participate in PMHS-CV’s Paws & Pages Reading Program every Wednesday and read to cats and small animals.

\nChildren ages 6 to 13 years are welcome to participate in PMHS-CV’s Paws & Pages Reading Program every Wednesday and read to cats and small animals.
