Adoption Process & Fees

When you adopt a pet from Pope Memorial’s Adoption Center, you make a huge impact! You give an animal a lifetime of love and happiness and a place to call home.

Welcome to Pope Memorial Adoption Center

We look forward to helping to match you with your new best friend and supporting you throughout the adoption process. Pope Memorial regularly cares for and houses dogs, cats, birds, rabbits and small animals. The Adoption Center is open Tuesday – Sunday from 10am – 12:30pm and 1:30pm – 4pm, with the last adoption meet at 3:30pm. (Closed Mondays for staff training and extra animal enrichment). For most pets, adopters can drop-in during our open hours, without needing to schedule an appointment or fill out any paperwork in advance. For pets in foster care (as indicated on their profile), please call to schedule an appointment to meet the pet at Pope Memorial.

All adoptions are on a first come, first served basis.

Adoption FAQs

How to I start the adoption process?

Complete an application online or during our walk-in hours.

Is there a fee to submit an adoption application?

No! The adoption application is free and non-committal. It’s just a tool we use to make the adoption process seamless, while ensuring a great match for you and your new pet.

I still have questions. How can I contact someone?

Email is the fastest form of communication right now. Please reach out to [email protected] with any questions!

Can I meet the animals before I submit an application?

Most of our cats and small animals can be met prior to completing an adoption application. We welcome you to visit during our open hours! For dog adoptions, we do require an approved application before meet-and-greets.

I don’t see an animal I’m interested in. Should I still complete an application?

Yes! We encourage you to complete an application in advance. You never know when a pet will catch your eye next time you visit our site, and having an approved application will expedite the process for you.
