Pat Adams was a talented, dedicated and beloved Dover pediatrician who compassionately gave much of herself to enhance the well-being of her patients and to empathize with the fears and concerns of their parents. Tragically, she was stricken with Alzheimer’s Disease at the age of 50 and was forced to retire.
Pat was also a devoted owner of numerous animals during her lifetime. Her cats provided constant companionship around the house-one of whom would climb on the bed each morning, stare at her face and very gently pat her closed eyelids with his paw until she woke. She would take her dogs for long walks through the fields and woods around her Berwick farm providing happy exercise for the dogs and enjoyment for her. Pat was also an accomplished horsewoman who rode her horses on trail rides, fox hunts and in jumping and dressage competitions. In sum, she gave her cherished animals the best of loving care and in return, they provided her with countless hours of enjoyment.
To honor his wife and her love of animals, her husband, Bob “Charlie” Adams, has created the Patricia C. Adams Endowment Fund for Animal Care at the Cocheco Valley Humane Society in her memory. The endowment will help PMHS fulfill its mission in many ways and for many years to come. If you would like to honor this remarkable woman by donating to her endowment fund in her memory please make checks payable to CVHS-Patricia C.
