We have some incredible news!!
An extremely generous donor has just committed to matching the next $2,500 donated to Luna’s Surgery! Make a donation now and double your impact for sweet Luna!! Our community and supporters are truly the best!
Sweet Luna arrived at Pope Memorial Humane Society – Cocheco Valley at the end of 2024, heartbroken and confused after the sudden loss of her beloved owner. At just six years old, she was completely shut down—too afraid to eat, too scared to be comforted. She had lost her world, and now found herself in an unfamiliar place, surrounded by strangers.
But we didn’t give up on her, and slowly, Luna didn’t give up either. With patience, love, and time, she began to trust. First a cautious tail wag. Then a short walk. Then beach trips, sleepovers, playdates with dog friends, and even pup cups! Before long, the Luna we had come to know, and love was no longer just surviving—she was thriving.
That’s why it broke our hearts to learn that both of Luna’s ACLs are torn.
This condition causes constant pain and limits her ability to enjoy the life she’s just begun to love again. Surgery is her best chance at living pain-free, but it’s expensive and specialized, requiring outside care. Between the procedure, aftercare, and medication, the total cost is $10,000.
We know—it’s a huge number. But Luna is more than worth it.
She’s only six. She has so much life left to live, so many hikes left to take, so many toys to chase, pools to splash in, and snuggles to give. She deserves to move through the world without pain—to keep thriving.
This sweet girl fought her way back from heartbreak. She rediscovered joy, love, and play. She is full of life—and she has so much more of it to live. She just needs help taking her next step!
In honor of National Rescue Dog Day, we’re asking for your help to give one very special dog the second chance she deserves. We’re aiming to raise funds for her surgery by May 20th, and we can’t do it without you. Any funds raised beyond what’s needed for Luna will go to our Champion’s Fund, which helps other dogs facing emergency medical needs get the same chance at healing.
Please, if you can, make a gift today to help Luna walk, run, and play again, pain-free and full of joy. Your donation means everything to her.
Donate now and be Luna’s hero!
*Any funds raised over our goal will go directly to the Champion’s Fund to support other animals, like Luna, who need emergency care*
