Thank you for considering Pope Memorial Humane Society to host your child’s next birthday celebration! Our Humane Education Department is dedicated to providing valuable learning opportunities for children in all activities we offer at the shelter. Birthday celebrations provide us with a great opportunity to show children the power that one person has to create significant change in an animal’s life. One way to reinforce this idea is to invite all party guests to bring a can of pet food, treats, gently used towels, or blankets for our homeless animals. Some of our birthday girls and boys ask their guests to bring gifts for the animals instead of for them. This is, of course, completely the decision of the birthday girl or boy and is never required.
Parties start with a personal tour of our facility for the guest of honor, their friends, and parents (for children ages 6 and up). Afterward, the children will participate in an age-appropriate Humane Education activity designed to communicate the importance of kindness and compassion toward animals in a unique and memorable way.
After the special activity, the guest of honor will celebrate their special day with their friends and family! Party guests can be rest assured they’ve played an integral part in helping their new animal friends.
We believe that the future for animals in the states of New Hampshire and Maine lies solely in the hands of our future generations. We are committed to sharing this very important message with them in a light, fun, and memorable way, which integrates beautifully with a birthday celebration.
